Traveling by airplane can have damaging effects on your skin because of UV exposure, oxygen reduction, recycled air, and cabin pressure. Hydration and rejuvenating the skin is the best solution when flying. Drinking lots of water will help you feel more awake and keep your skin looking firm. A good in-flight skincare routine is also important.
Before traveling it is best not to wear a full face of makeup to let your skin breathe. Do your morning skincare routine, and make sure to wear sunscreen.
When in flight, start off by making sure your hands are clean and wipe your face with micellar water to get rid of any makeup and grime. Then spray a face mist to refresh and get the skin prepped for skincare. Apply a hydrating serum on the damp skin. Follow this with a nourishing face mask. After about 15 to 20 minutes, gently pat off the excess. Reapply your sunscreen. For makeup, make sure the application is light, so your skin can still breathe, but just enough to fix any imperfections. A multi-use face palette is a great option to save space. The lips quickly get chapped in flight so make sure to apply a nourishing lip-balm. Applying a fragrance-free nourishing hand cream throughout your flight is a simple step that that works wonders to feel hydrated. Your hair is also important so using a silk neck-pillow can help tame frizz, and a silk eye mask while resting is gentle on your skin.
After flying it is best to immediately wash your face because of all the accumulated germs and bacteria. It is important to rebalance the skin as quickly as possible. Once at your destination, take a shower with lukewarm water and proceed with your regular skincare routine. If you are going to a colder climate, take into consideration that your skin will need more hydration or if you are in a warmer climate, pay attention to skin congestion.
